How can local musical heritage be preserved and made accessible to future generations? In this lecture, Darko Konstantinović presents the Jagodina Music Archive as an example of the successful collection, documentation, and digital preservation of local musical heritage through collaboration with artists, institutions, and the community. He discusses the importance of archiving, digitisation, and access to cultural heritage, as well as how local initiatives can develop into lasting resources of value to the wider cultural community.

The lecture was presented at the conference “Strategic Directions and Priorities for the Development of the Music Industry in Serbia,” held on 19 July 2026 in Niš, as part of the project “Play It! – Strengthening Cooperation in the Music Industry,” implemented by the World Music Association of Serbia (WMAS) with the support of UNESCO’s International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD).
